Instructions for Room Selection!

IF YOU HAVE SUBMITTED *BOTH* YOUR APPLICATION ONLINE *AND* YOUR PREPAYMENT FEE TO THE OneStop Office ON OR BEFORE THE DEADLINE OF MONDAY, MARCH 24, 2008, YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR PRIORITY AND LOTTERY NUMBER BEFORE THE END OF THE WEEK. If you submitted either the application or the prepayment fee AFTER the March 24, 2008 deadline, you will be placed on our waiting list based on the time of application completion AND housing requirement.

If you have any questions, please email orl@usfca.edu, or stop by Phelan Hall to check in.

Only students currently living in University-Operated housing may participate in Returning Resident Room Selection. Students interested in returning to University-Operated Housing for the 2008-2009 academic year will be split into two Teams:

If you are required to live on campus, you are on Team Green. Students required to live on campus are current freshmen who graduated high school in 2007 AND are under 21 years of age, students with full ROTC scholarships, 2008-2009 RHA Executive and Legislative Board and those with select full academic scholarships. Team Green selects housing during the week of March 30th, 2008.

If you are NOT required to live on campus, you are on Team Gold. Students not required to live on campus are all graduate students, current sophomores, current juniors, and returning seniors who currently live on campus and students studying abroad who lived on campus the semester prior to going abroad. Team Gold selects housing during the week of April 6th, 2008.

Please note: Any student with a hold for incomplete sanctions will not be able to go through the room selection process until the sanction has been completed and the hold has been removed. Also, any student required to live on campus for the 2008-2009 academic year who has not submitted a housing application OR received a housing waiver will have a hold placed on her/his account and will be unable to register for classes for the Fall 2008 semester.

Choosing a double room in Phelan, Fromm, Lone Mountain, Pedro Arrupe, Fulton House or Pacific Wing
Priority in the process for both Team Green and Team Gold is given to students selecting rooms in pairs. Students who select rooms in roommate pairs will be given the opportunity to sign up for a room using the best priority number of the two individuals.

Please note: Students on different Teams (Team Green, required vs. Team Gold, not required) can only sign up as roommate pairs if both students currently live in University Operated Housing and both students graduated high school in 2006 or earlier. Sign ups for student groups comprised of both Teams will take place at the beginning of Team Gold sign-ups (see schedule).

At the time roommate pairs select a room, only one person needs to be present, and must have the following for both students:
- Both priority/lottery number pages (from the back of the priority number booklet)
- (if necessary) The proxy section on the priority number booklet should be signed by the absent roommate

Students who do not have a preferred roommate will come during open selection at the designated time based on Team and priority numbers. At the time of selection, you (or your proxy) must have:
- Your priority/lottery number page (from the back of the priority number booklet)
- (if necessary) the proxy section on the priority number booklet should be signed by the absent student

Choosing a Loyola Village Unit
Only current residents who graduated high school in 2006 or earlier may select a room in Loyola Village. Students signing up for Loyola Village may sign up in even numbered groups (2, 4, or 6 people in a group) for one unit and may use the best priority number in the group. When selecting a condo unit, a maximum of 2 people per group may be present, but must have the following:
- All priority/lottery number pages (from the back of the priority number booklet)
- (if necessary) The proxy section on the priority number booklet should be signed by all absent roommates.

Single Rooms
Students will be able to choose from available single rooms in order of class standing and priority number. Graduate students will have first choice continuing with select students in Team Green, seniors, juniors, then sophomores. If you think you may require a reasonable accommodation for on-campus living on the basis of a disability, please contact Student Disability Services at x2613. This must be completed prior to the start of room selection.

Designated single room locations are Lone Mountain physical singles (coed; required sophomores only), Pedro Arrupe (coed), Pacific Wing (coed; required sophomores only) and Loyola Village (Grad students only).

Wait List
Room selection ends on April 10th, 2008. Current on-campus residents, who are not required to live on campus (as per the residency requirement above), who submit an application for housing after this date will be assigned to available rooms beginning July 1, 2008, after incoming, required students are assigned. Due to the expected occupancy, we do not anticipate many vacancies for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Proxies
Students who are unable to attend their designated sign-up time may assign a proxy (someone to select the room for them). If you are unable to attend, and your prospective roommate will be selecting the room for you, you must complete the proxy section on the back of your priority number booklet and give it to your proxy to use during your slotted room selection time. Please do not skip class; if you cannot find a proxy, please contact the Office of Residence Life and we will help you find one.

Building Descriptions for 2008-2009
Please see our website for building descriptions at http://www.usfca.edu/residence_life.

Judicial Verification
Living in Loyola Village, Fulton House or Pacific Wing is a privilege for students who have demonstrated responsible community living. Students who have been found responsible for multiple policy violations and/or who are currently on disciplinary probation through the USF judicial process as outlined in the Fogcutter are not eligible to select or live in Loyola Village, Fulton House or Pacific Wing. Students found responsible for policy violations after signing up for Loyola Village, Fulton House or Pacific Wing will forfeit their placement and will be reassigned on a space-available basis on the wait list (see above). The Office of Residence Life will screen for judicial violations and/or disciplinary probation status after residents have signed up for Loyola Village, Fulton House or Pacific Wing. Students must be of junior class standing or over the age of 21 in order to be eligible to live in Loyola Village.

Please note: Once you have selected a room you will not be able to change rooms, for any reason, until the Fall 2008 semester room change period.
